Friday, April 17, 2026 – Carrying Resurrection Into the Weekend (Peace in Locked Rooms)

The Short of It

Jesus doesn’t wait for fear to fade—He steps into it and speaks peace.

Summary of the Week’s Readings

  • Monday – Isaiah 25:6–9
God promises a future where death is swallowed up and tears are wiped away. What feels final now is not the end—God is bringing restoration.
  • Tuesday – Psalm 16
Joy is found not in circumstances, but in God’s presence. Even in uncertainty, we are held.
  • Wednesday – 1 Peter 1:3–9
Resurrection gives us a living hope—secure, unchanging, and beyond what fear can touch.
  • Thursday – John 20:19–31
Jesus enters locked rooms, speaks peace, and meets both fear and doubt with His presence.

Thread of Grace

Fear may lock the door—but it cannot keep Jesus out.

He meets us in the room,
in the questions,
in the uncertainty—and speaks peace that doesn’t depend on everything being fixed.

Resurrection life doesn’t begin when fear disappears…it begins when Jesus shows up.

A Simple Practice to Carry Into the Weekend

Practice: Name the Room

Take a few quiet moments and ask yourself:

  • Where am I feeling fear right now?
  • What part of my life feels closed off or guarded?

Name it honestly.

Then pray: “Jesus, meet me here.”

You don’t have to fix it.
You don’t have to force peace.

Just let Him be present.

Closing Prayer

Jesus,
Thank You that You meet me where I am.

Not where I pretend to be—
but in the real places of fear, doubt, and uncertainty.

Thank You that Your peace is not fragile.
It doesn’t depend on everything going right.

Help me carry Your presence with me into this weekend.
Remind me that no door is too closed, no fear too strong.

You are alive.
And You are with me.

Amen.
