The Short of It

This week reminded us that moments of clarity are gifts—not destinations. God reveals glory not to keep us on the mountain. Glory is revealed so we can follow Jesus with greater trust when the path leads back into ordinary life. Seeing clearly means listening to Jesus even when the brilliance fades.

Exodus 24:12–18 (Monday)

Moses enters the cloud of God’s presence. He discovers that revelation often begins with waiting. Trust is also essential. Furthermore, stepping forward without full understanding is necessary.

Psalm 99 (Tuesday)

God is revealed as holy and sovereign, yet near and responsive—inviting reverence that deepens relationship rather than creating distance.

2 Peter 1:16–21 (Wednesday)

Peter testifies that the glory on the mountain was real. It was trustworthy. This confirms the reliability of Scripture and the enduring guidance of God’s Word.

Matthew 17:1–9 (Thursday)

Jesus is revealed in glory. The voice from heaven directs the disciples not to stay. Instead, they are instructed to listen. This prepares them for the road that leads toward the cross.

God’s clearest revelations throughout the week are not meant to insulate us from struggle. They are also not meant to freeze us in spiritual highs. They provide an anchor. They help us listen more closely. They encourage us to trust more deeply. They guide us to follow more faithfully when life becomes uncertain. The mountain moment equips us for the valley walk.
