Friday, January 9, 2026 — Week 1 Recap (The Chase — Searching for What’s Real)
The Short of It
This week reminded us that we don’t chase God down to find what’s real. God’s grace comes looking for us—gathering, strengthening, blessing, and shining Light into the places we feel most unsure.
Summary of the Week’s Readings
Jeremiah 31:7–14 (Monday) showed God as the One who gathers people home. He especially reaches out to the weary and vulnerable. God turns grief into joy. He makes a way forward when life feels dislocated.
Psalm 147:12–20 (Tuesday) trained our eyes to notice God’s steady faithfulness in ordinary life.
Ephesians 1:3–14 (Wednesday) reset our identity. Before we do anything, God has already blessed us in Christ. We are chosen, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, and sealed. We’re not chasing worth; we’re learning to live from grace.
John 1:(1–9), 10–18 (Thursday) lifted the curtain on ultimate reality. Jesus is the Word made flesh. He is the Light that enters darkness. He is the grace that moves in close. He is the truth that doesn’t crush. He is the love that won’t let go.
Thread of Grace
God’s light guides ordinary people toward extraordinary purpose.
God’s guidance does not demand that you have the whole map. It gathers you when you’re scattered. It strengthens you when you’re fragile. It blesses you before you achieve. It shines into your darkness with grace and truth.
A simple practice to carry into the weekend
One Step Toward the Light (10 minutes):
- Write down one place you feel “in the dark” right now (confusion, fear, grief, shame, stress).
- Write one line of truth from this week you want to live from (example: “In Christ, I am chosen and loved.”).
- Take one small action that aligns with the Light. You could send the text, make the apology, or schedule the appointment. Asking for help or choosing rest are also options. You might open Scripture or pray honestly.
Closing Prayer
Jesus, You are the Light. Gather what feels scattered in me. Strengthen what feels weak. Help me live from Your blessing instead of chasing approval. Shine into my darkness with grace and truth, and guide me one faithful step at a time. Amen.
